Cunt

Ok, there, I said it.

Aren't you now more interested than before?

After just finishing in my language change and variation class the section on semantic and lexical change, I can't help but feel like I should be able to say this without a problem.

Why is it that there are some many profane words to use that deal with the female body? The feminist comes out of me and I want to scream "Vagina, vagina, vagina!" at the top of my lungs just to get it out.

I know that I do stumble over these words when I'm describing myself or even that part of the anatomy in particular. Why? Shouldn't I be comfortable talking about myself with feeling embarrassed?

Blogger divine Caroline has some words to say about all of this. I highly suggest you check out here article.

Until then, keep it real.

Complete and Utter Waste of Time... yet, highly amused.

xkcd

This has been my obsession for the past hour... or two. Blah! I’m worthless and I realize this, but it’s so damn addicting. Maybe it’s just that I see so much of myself in these.

Dude, you're right about gas

I'm totally with Frugal Dad on this one.

He writes about how gas prices really aren't that high if you consider it on a personal level. And when you think about the people who do the complaining, like the guys who drive big trucks just so they can go muddin', it's really just ridiculous.

Take a look at his article, and while you're at it, check out his whole blog. I know that I'm adding him to my blog list... Once I get a blog list up.

Underground Revolution

As I was browsing the headlines of the day, I came across this article.

Basically, the Cuban youth are getting around the government restrictions of Internet using thumb drives and illegal satellites. People are exchanging information that the media would never broadcast.

It was interesting because I guess that I hadn't realized how restricted Cubans are by their government. No wonder the US hates Castro so much. No internet cafes, no service for the locals. Oh, but there are places where foreigners are allowed to access the net, provided they display their passport. Intense.

I'm rooting for you guys on your island. Keep fighting the Man. We'll win it soon enough.

Update-tastic

Wow. I really need to get organized. Living without a desk is insane. These next couple of weeks are going to kill me. Let me just update you with what's going on.

- Next week, 3 tests.
- Week after that: Spring Break.
- Week after Spring Break: 7-page draft of a research paper due.

Not to mention the parentals are coming into town next week for their yearly physicals. Yay.

I don't even have plans for the break... Oh, bother.

Stanford... or bust.

Stanford announced that it will make tuition free from those students whose families make less than $100,000/year. Also, room and board will be free to those who make less than $60,000.

Bomb! I should have gone to Stanford. I'd be in less debt than I'm already in.

Check out the article.

Obama Rally

Tonight, there's a Barack Obama rally going on downtown.

Personally, I'm not too worried about who's going to be the candidate. I'm voting Democrat, no matter what. But I've always wanted to go to one of these things, and this seems to be the moment.

If you happen to be in Austin tonight, you should check it out. This event does require registration, but it's free, so RSVP here.

Just one more year... we'll get through this, America. ^_^

Welcome!

OMFG, it's the first post.

Let's start out with the goals I would like to achieve with this blog:

  • Keep friends and family up-to-date on me
  • Provide an easy way to contact me
  • Provide a place for friends of different backgrounds to interact
  • To post sweet articles and links to things I find interesting/amusing/helpful
  • Voice my opinion on linguistics/random things.

Now, let's see where this will lead us.
